Coronavirus Measures - UPDATE (29th March 2020)

On 29th March 2020, the Council of Ministers announced the following extensions to the Corona Virus measures previously announced on 14th March 2020:
1. All schools, nurseries and other places of education will be closed until 10th April 2020
2. All sports, social and cultural activities at schools will be suspended until 10th April 2020
3. All cinema showings, theatre performances, concerts, festivals, meetings and other mass gatherings will be cancelled until 10th April 2020
4. All sports competitions will be postponed until 10th April 2020
5. Processing of new work permits for foreign nationals will be suspended until 30th April 2020
6. All civil servants except for police, fire, health, civil aviation, finance and similar will be on leave until 10th April 2020
7. All private shops, businesses, casinos, nightclubs, betting offices and other places of entertainment except for chemists, petrol stations, supermarkets, bakeries and other places providing basic needs will be closed until 10th April 2020
8. Until 10th April 2020, chemists will be open from 8.00-13.30. Duty chemists will be open until 01.30. There will be an extra duty chemist in each area. A maximum of 3 customers are permitted in a chemist at a time.
9. All land, sea and air ports will be closed to all nationals other than TRNC nationals or the spouses and children of TRNC nationals until 11th April 2020.
