Title deeds

Please can anyone advise how long it takes to receive title deeds once all taxes have been paid and the land registry has given the application a reference number?

Re: Title deeds

Dear Roz Lamb

Once the transfer of title has been carried out, it takes the Land Registry some time to write out and issue the new title deedsin the name of the new owner. On average this period is around 8 weeks, but at the moment, due to the extra workload which the Land Registry has as a result of the temporary reductions on taxes which the Government is offering until 30th September 2009, this period may be longer. When transfer of title is carried out, you will be given a receipt by the Land Registry which has a reference number on it beginning with 'S'. You should use this reference number to track your title deed and it is important to ensure that you or your lawyer enquire about the title deed on a regular basis to try to obtain it as early as possible.
