Registering Marriage in the UK

Hi,

Well I think I done the hard bit and got all the right paperwork and documents and finally got married in the TRNC above the post office in Girne.

My question is, how do I register the marriage in England ?

On the UK Goverment Website there is no mention of being able to register a marriage in Cyprus at all. Let alone the TRNC.

So is it really legal in the UK, and how do I do it ?

regards,

SK

Re: Registering Marriage in the UK

You could contact the British High Commission in Nicosia for information.
The address of the British High Commission in the North is 29 Mehmet Akif Cad
Koskluciftlik - Lefkosa. The website address is http://ukincyprus.fco.gov.uk/en/help-fo … nationals/
There is no legal requirement to register the marriage in the UK. The marriage is legal. In general, under UK law, foreign marriages are recognised provided that the marriage is valid in the country in which it was conducted and local formalities were complied with. Therefore, there is no formal procedure which you need to go through to make the marriage 'legal' in the UK.
