Change to Land Registry transfer fees
Under a change to the regulations published in the Official Gazette on 7th February 2024, the Land Registry transfer fees in relation to all transfers of title for property purchases by citizens other than citizens of the TRNC and the Republic of Turkey, irrespective of the date when the Contract of Sale was signed/registered, are now payable at 12% of the price stated in the Contract of Sale or the Land Registry valuation, whichever is higher. This change was unexpected and was implemented without any prior notice and is already being applied by the Land Registry with immediate effect to all transfers of title.
